A few days ago we had the pleasure of photographing Mere & Matt's Engagement Session in South Bend, Indiana! Mere and Matt are such a laid back, funny, positive couple that it's no surprise that they've dated since age 16. Mere is in grad school and Matt is two & a half hours away working in Indianapolis. Also, to our surprise Mere's sister was in Jenny's high school class!
Like many of the couples we've been working with this year, not both Mere and Matt live nearby. This isn't a problem at all, but makes meeting in person a very planned thing based around when travel is already occurring. Other couples we work with have even more difficult travels to get to here for their wedding (and engagement photos). The wedding venue of the Basilica of the Sacred Heart on Notre Dame University's campus attracts couples from near and far who even sometimes live in totally different states from each another! Our couple clients live in Ohio, Illinois, Michigan, Texas, Pennsylvania, and Indiana and travel all the way to South Bend, Indiana to meet with us and other vendors to plan their Basilica weddings!
Luckily both Mere and Matt live in the Indiana, but Saturday was our one day for Matt being in town and available. We had planned on some fun sunrise photos of them, but of course being the semi "rainforest weather" Spring season here, the weather had a different plan. Our 6 a.m. shoot time moved back to 9:30 and we didn't meet until 10:20 am due to even more rain! We were totally open-minded to rescheduling for them since the weather was so wet and a brisk, chilly 40 degrees, but both Mere and Matt were ok with going forward and toughing it out for a photoshoot! They were such troopers. We really love working with couples who have a great sense of humor, go with the flow, and are fun to be around and these two hit all of the above criteria! Plus, we're always excited to find other couples whose first names start with the same letter. (haha Weirdly that's been 3 client couples this year-!) All-in-all even though we were all very cold at first, the Session ended up going very well!
