Amidst all of our recent work, sometimes we like to take a week to look back on a past wedding (that we haven't yet shared here on our blog) and celebrate a great anniversary of a couple that we had the pleasure of working with in the past. This week, we are looking back at the quite memorable wedding of Damon and Mallorie who just celebrated their third wedding anniversary on Thursday!
The marriage of Damon and Mallorie was a mixture of Oklahoma Country and Motorcycle Outlaw. Needless to say, I felt right at home working with this amazing couple on their exciting day. Barbecue, bikes, a gypsy feel, and a rustic, handmade touch made this wedding a memorable one indeed.
The day began at a small couple of houses located in the nearby hills that they had rented for their wedding day. This was a great location that really worked with the feel that the couple was looking for on their big day. The grounds around the houses where the ceremony and reception were to take place were filled with rustic furniture, decorations, and an alter that the couple had all custom made for the wedding. Mallorie's brother manned a giant smoker to help cook some of the delicious food for the reception which gave us an awesome photo opportunity later on in the day. While everyone prepared for the big event I took a few images of Mallorie and a few of the other ladies putting on their makeup. Once she had gotten her dress on, Mallorie had the full custom treatment applied to her dress by having her mother and soon-to-be mother-in-law actually sew her into the dress.
Prior to the ceremony we took a few minutes to capture images of all of the groomsmen suited up and ready to go. The smoke coming off of the huge smoker not only graced us with the delicious smell of barbecue, but gave us some pretty epic images. The light was just right as it came down through the trees and smoke which really helped in achieving the "tough" aesthetic of these custom chopper enthusiasts.
The ceremony was held on the same property just a few feet away from where everyone had gotten ready. Everyone was seated and awaited the beginning of the ceremony. The bridal party then began their walk down the aisle toward their custom built wedding altar. It is always a great occasion to have an outdoor ceremony, especially one that has a heartfelt unique fell to it. It was a great day with perfect weather as Damon and Mallorie exchanged their vows and rings.
After the Ceremony we spent a few minutes taking portraits with just Mallorie and Damon. The many tall Oak trees and rocks around the somewhat isolated venue made the location easy to work with. (The setting is fun to look back on as it reminds us a lot of when we as a couple would live in and hike the mountains of the Los Padres National Forest in Santa Barbara, CA every week back in 2014 & 2015.)
Since the wedding venue was somewhat isolated, most of the people attending decided to camp out after the reception was over which was another unique and fun addition to Mallorie and Damon's wedding! It's not often that wedding guests opt to camp out at the wedding location, but their awesome friends and family were down to rough it for the night! (We actually just spend 25% of September camping out in order to go photograph weddings for our clients throughout the Midwest, so we love their adventurous spirit!)
Happy Third Wedding Anniversary, you two! We hope that the past few years were extremely memorable and we know that you two have a lifetime of memories to come!
This week we had the pleasure of capturing Eileen & Dustin's Engagement Session at sunset up in St. Joe, Michigan! We were only able to capture a couple photos a couple weeks ago until their Session got rained out, so we were really excited to get up there again and photograph those two. We'll be sharing their Session on the blog next week and honestly can't wait to photograph their Cinco de Mayo/ May 5th wedding coming up in 2018!
Also in the works is an awesome Infant Session we were able to photograph! We'll be editing this and sharing it in a few weeks with you, though you can catch sneak peeks of the Session on our Instagram page this week at: instagram.com/jennyandjasonphoto
We have a pretty jam-packed week and weekend starting with photographing a 100 Year Old Birthday Party coming up this week! We're also setting up a booth for our business with our physical photo products at an event this weekend, meeting with some awesome couples in our consultation office, and packaging/ sending out more beautiful Keepsake boxes with wedding photos to our summer wedding clients! (All while going back and forth through editing two weddings from the past few weeks and other Portrait Sessions!)
Next weekend we'll also be capturing Kelly & Zach's amazing fall wedding at the University of Notre Dame Basilica & the wonderful Morris Park Country Club! We haven't seen these two in about a year, so it'll be great to see them again and capture their beautiful day! We'll be sharing their teasers in just two Wednesdays on the blog, but until then be looking forward to so many awesome teasers from the current Portrait Sessions and Weddings on our Instagram page! Have a great weekend and enjoy this beautiful weather!
