As we prep today for photographing Malyssa & Dakota’s wedding in Valparaiso, Indiana tomorrow (their grandparents’ wedding anniversary date this Thursday), we thought we’d share more wedding anniversaries with you! Next Weekly Wednesday we’ll be sharing with you Malyssa & Dakota’s official Wedding Teasers from their wedding within the same week and the following week will be Mollie & Bobby’s official Wedding Teasers from their South Bend wedding next weekend, but for now we’ll be sharing with you some other weddings.
This week we want to share with you both weddings from 9 years ago through even a wedding from just last September! The weddings range from weddings in Ohio in 2010 to a couple weddings in California (a vineyard and in the rolling mountains as well) to weddings across Indiana from Amish Acres to a lake in central Indiana to here in South Bend, Indiana!
Celebrating their one year wedding anniversary in just a week and a half are Mikayla & Matthew! We photographed the Engagement Session for these two at their alma mater of Purdue University a couple hours south of us at the start of last summer (Mikayla even coming in from Minnesota for it), then got to photograph these two for their wedding on September 22nd, 2018 at St. Matthew’s Cathedral here in South Bend with their reception at St. Hedwig’s Memorial Center in downtown South Bend. Oddly enough, we ran into both Jenny’s aunt, uncle, and cousins afterward as well as Mikayla and Matthew all at the same location-! What a small world! We loved designing and creating Mikayla & Matthew’s physical wedding album for them afterward and loved getting to know them over the years! These two are definitely a laid back, fun-loving couple with so much love and joy to spread and we’re honored that we were chosen to capture their big day!
Just a couple years ago Sara & Nick were wed in Monticello, Indiana at Lake Shafer on September 23rd, 2017! These two just had their baby last year and we were thrilled to get to send them some baby gifts along with their printed wedding photos & physical wedding album that they chose (that came with their package)! Their wedding day at Lake Shafer was a very warm one, but a gorgeous day for them! They had an outdoor ceremony right there at their venue and even had their reception on the gorgeous outdoor deck/ pier that jutted out into the lake! We’ve since seen Nick to photograph his law firm down near Indianapolis, Indiana as they revamped their website and were thrilled to hear that Sara was acting in a play that night (that we sadly had to miss)! We know that these two fun-loving, wise people are the best of parents to their baby girl and are so excited that they’ll be celebrating their 2 Year Wedding Anniversary in a couple weeks as well!
Also celebrating their 2 Year Wedding Anniversary just after this coming weekend are Tasha & Josh! These two also had an outdoor wedding ceremony (by a pond) on their big day on September 16th, 2017 at Amish Acres in Nappanee, Indiana! The day was again a very hot one, but showed that summer was still in full effect on their gorgeous day! Their reception was feet away in the barn at Amish Acres with delicious food and the warm glow of the barn shining on them as these two danced the night away (with Tasha even getting to DJ a bit)! These two have such a calm, wise sense of selves and we were so honored to get to photograph their well-deserved big day just a couple years ago and we can’t wait for them to get to celebrate their Two Year Wedding Anniversary in just days-!!
Next up 5 years back are Damon & Mallorie who celebrate their 5 Year Wedding Anniversary in just a few weeks! These two were wed on September 28th, 2014 out in the rolling hills of California in Oceanside Their wedding was what we called a bit of gypsy meets chopper enthusiast with their outdoor ceremony in the hills complete with log altar, pillow seats for the relaxed reception, smoked meats in a smoker right there outside, dogs in attendance, and the end of the night camping right up there in the hills (totally our style)! Their unique wedding was a blast to capture and definitely had a very welcoming and family feel to the whole event. Mallorie and her family are from the Southern United States, and definitely brought their welcoming Southern Hospitality to the whole day.
A year prior to that wedding was Stefani & Kip’s wedding a year prior in 2013 also oddly enough on September 28th in California! These two were wed in Paso Robles, California at the Denner Vineyards. These two made the most of the beautiful grounds of the vineyards and had a fully outdoor ceremony and reception. The winery is set in atop the hills of Paso Robles and allows for many amazing views around the property. We went for a short stroll around the vineyards to get a few portraits of the happily married couple together before they spent the rest of the night in party mode.
Lastly, we’d like to celebrate Joanna & Kyle who TODAY celebrate their 9th Wedding Anniversary with their wedding having been on September 11th, 2010! Their wedding took place in southwest Ohio all at the same venue for their indoor ceremony and reception. They were wed on a literal stage (with a red carpet leading up to it) and celebrated their reception in the same room as well (as it was transformed to a reception hall with round tables throughout the room)! If you remember our blog post from August, this is one of the families who we photographed multiple weddings for in Ohio! They’re all fantastic and were willing to give a kid with a couple new university degrees (and 9 years of college and high school coursework in photography darkrooms) an opportunity to photograph more full wedding days!
Congratulations to these and all of our couples celebrating their September wedding anniversaries and/ or anniversaries of first getting together as a couple! We feel honored to have gotten to know you over the years and to have gotten to photograph you professionally in order to preserve these lifelong memories of your love and growth! We wish you a lifetime of love and continued happiness as you evolve and grow together!
_______ Unrelated: Coming up tomorrow as we said we photograph Malyssa & Dakota’s Four Corners Winery wedding all day! We cannot wait to photograph their big day tomorrow after scouting their wedding portrait locations today as well as Mollie & Bobby’s today (for their 10 hour South Bend wedding next week)! As you may remember these two (Malyssa & Dakota) are the couple who live in Tennessee and who we photographed for their Engagement Session up in Michigan at Lake Michigan on the beach this summer! These two are originally from cities in Indiana and we originally met Malyssa because she is from a family company of Estate Sale-rs whose sales we frequent and buy from (having just also purchased 2 gorgeous vintage Schwinn yellow bikes from them also this summer)! We cannot wait to see all of their family members again tomorrow and capture everyone celebrating Malyssa & Dakota’s beautiful big day!
The day after their wedding we head off to California again to another wedding! This wedding is on Saturday in Santa Barbara (our old home city!) and in the days following it we will see friends, adventure to Big Sur camping for a couple nights (while also writing and editing photos for Malyssa & Dakota’s Wedding Teasers blog post for Wednesday!), then hopefully meet our new niece Elliott (if she’s born by then since it IS her due date week which is why we’re sticking around a few more days) a bit more South in California before visiting with Jason’s grandma & mom as well! When we return we photograph Mollie & Bobby’s wedding for 10 hours here in South Bend and then edit those 2 weddings while prepping to head to Italy just a couple short weeks later! Whew! It’s about to ramp up and prove to be a crazy transition from Summer to Fall later this month, but we’re still editing all of our clients’ photos on time, printing/ packaging/ shipping all printed photo orders on time, and are still taking wedding consultations & bookings for 2020 and 2021 weddings! We are so excited for the amazing weddings that we already have booked for 2020 (Basilica, Notre Dame, Barns in Indiana, The Brick, The Armory, The Potawatomi Conservatory, etc) and are excited to continue to meet amazing couples whose weddings we cannot wait to be a part of!
