Mollie & Bobby are MARRIED!! These two were wed a few days ago on September 21st at Holy Cross Church & The Brick! They are currently on their honeymoon as of a couple days ago on Monday, but since they’re down in Florida they said they would likely still be able to see the blog! You may remember these two from their Engagement Session this summer at Notre Dame with their dogs (with their moms amazingly tagging along to watch the dogs), then off campus with their police cars! This past weekend a few days ago were able to capture their wedding for 10 hours just after returning from California (with their wedding being the third in about a week that we’ve been at)! We’ve been editing their photos for days and cannot wait to share with you some awesome 200-something Teasers from their big day! Without further adieu, Mollie & Bobby’s wedding day!!
Mollie & Bobby started their day getting ready at the Morris Inn at the University of Notre Dame. Since as we mentioned they’d had their Engagement Session here at Notre Dame, it was fitting that these two were back here at Notre Dame getting ready on 2 different floors of the Morris Inn on campus.
These two were cool as a cucumber and laid back when we got there to photograph them getting ready which was impressive given that it was their wedding day AND Mollie & the ladies had started their day at the salon 4 hours earlier!
The guys got ready quickly and headed out for group photos on campus while Jenny started by photographing Mollie’s dress within the Morris Inn, captured her shoes, and their wedding invitations before Mollie headed to get her dress on!
Mollie got her bridal gown on and headed down for a few photos while Bobby and the guys were outside finishing up groomsmen photos with Bobby on campus before hopping into the bus to head over to the church.
Mollie posed for some individual photos as well as bridesmaid photos and soon the bus showed back up and it was time for she and her ladies (including the moms) to head over to the church in the bus as well!
Mollie gave their dads pre-ceremony gifts and also gave their moms gifts as well that they opened and loved! One gift was hand embroidered tissues that said wonderfully sweet, specific things to the recipients on them!
Bobby also wrote Mollie a heartfelt note that she read before heading to the ceremony and she did shed some tears as she was reading it. Since she and Bobby are in the police force (as was her dad), the inside of her dress also contained a blue heart patch made out of her dad’s blue uniform as well as Bobby’s last name patch from his uniform which worked for her “something blue” for the wedding!
Mollie and Bobby stayed separated up until they looked at each other down the aisle from each other at Holy Cross Church- the Catholic church that Mollie went to when she went to Holy Cross grade school!
There were lovely live musicians playing at the church when they got there and Mollie got her veil secured. (The church itself sits with the school & its gym, so for the past 4 falls Jenny has been volunteer coaching games for CKS middle school volleyball over the past 4 years with some being right there)!
Before we knew it, it was time for their wedding ceremony! Bobby was walked down the aisle by his mom, then their flower girl and ring bearer preceeded Mollie!
Mollie looked absolutely thrilled and gorgeous as she walked down the aisle to Bobby before they were reunited!
These two have been through a lot together especially in the past couple weeks having just bought a house together and immediately moving in a couple weeks before the wedding, so it was great seeing them reunited at the front of their wedding ceremony thinking about how much things have changed in the past couple weeks!
The mass itself was a beautiful and mildly shorter Catholic wedding ceremony mass with it not having the Eucharist, but still having the Veneration of Mary near the end of the mass.
Though in the Catholic wedding ceremony mass it doesn’t go in this order, Mollie and Bobby said their vows and exchanged rings before we knew it! The lack of a Eucharist during the mass for their wedding made things seem like they were flying by!
After their Veneration of Mary these two made their way down the aisle a newly married couple!
Post-ceremony, Mollie & Bobby had about 60 family photos that they requested near the altar of the church, so we captured those for them.
It was actually the fastest we’ve ever captured the formal family photos for any wedding in 10 years especially with them having the top range of number of group photos and we thank their family and friends for being so amazingly professional at smiling and posing! (Truly impressive!)
Their priest even brought his dog out (similar to Mollie & Bobby’s dog) for them to greet during family photos!
Since we finished their group portraits early (say what?!) we actually had time to leisurely capture portraits of the two of them inside of the church as well as just outside its doors with a portrait idea Mollie had!
We were thrilled that the rain held off (only a few sprinkles once we got outside) and that we were able to capture newlyweds Mollie and Bobby in such a relaxed way!
Once finished up at Holy Cross, we took the bridal party and the newlyweds over to another spot in town for some more group portraits!
We figured we’d head to a location that’s not as often used on Saturdays (though we did manage to find 2 other wedding parties on the more traditional side of that location taking their wedding day photos)!
We’d also taken photos of both sides of the bridal party separately earlier in the day pre-ceremony, so that left us with even more time than expected, so we took even more bridal party photos in tons of different locations!
Everyone was extremely easy to photograph, so we first captured the full group photos, then captured a few more of the ladies with Mollie & men with Bobby and even did that again in downtown South Bend since we were a full hour ahead of schedule thanks to everyone being so wonderful!
As you can see, we even found a Statue of Liberty to pair nicely with their red, white, and blue wedding garb for the day!
Once finished with those, the ladies helped bustle Mollie (who already removed her veil after the ceremony/ church photos) and the guys played cops.
Separately earlier we captured individuals of Mollie & Bobby that we thought were lovely.
Finally we got to capture some newlywed photos of Mollie & Bobby together!
Since it was the last weekend of summer, the humidity was out in full effect in the 85 degree warm day!
We were excited that we actually got to have privacy with these two as the other 2 wedding parties stayed toward the more cliche college spots for photos and we strayed more toward more classic nature/ architecture spots with these two as neither went to these 2 universities (rather attended other colleges).
As we mentioned many times, we were running very early for portraits since everyone was just so easy to photograph, so we brought Mollie & Bobby to a good handful of spots before they suggested that maybe we head downtown for some final portraits instead of being an hour early to their reception!
It ended up being a fun trip downtown just a few minutes away capturing them at 4 spots around downtown before their bridal party mostly headed into Fiddler’s Hearth and then everyone piling back into the bus!
Soon it was time to head to their Reception at The Brick! We arrived about a half hour early, so they decided that they wanted to be announced into their reception about 15 minutes early after cooling off from the 85 degree humid outdoors!
There was again a live strings section playing music during Cocktail Hour within the reception, so it was lovely once we got inside.
They had a wonderful cheese and appetizer bar set up next to a table of photos of family members they wanted to share, so folks had many things to keep them entertained while waiting for them to be announced into the reception!
Once announced in to their reception with their bridal party taking their sides at their large front table, these two launched into their First Dance in an East Coast Style entry!
After their First Dance these two enjoyed cutting their beautiful wedding cake and kindly feeding it to each other! We loved the flower embellishments, classic design, and lovely laser cut cake topper with their last name on it!
After their cake cutting, a pre-dinner prayer was said, then dinner was served buffet style!
During dinner Mollie & Bobby mingled with guests and enjoyed their dinners before the speeches started.
During dinner we ate and captured some close-up photos of their rings! One of our favorite parts of the meal was the amazing rice which included some wild rice, basmati rice, cherries, and pecans! (YUM!)
After dinner these two enjoyed speeches/ toasts from Mollie’s dad, her Maid of Honor (old neighbor/ close family friend), and Bobby’s Best Man (best friend)!
Shortly after the toasts, Mollie & her dad enjoyed their Father-Daughter Dance to the tune of “I Loved Her First” by Heartland. Their dance that had them tearing up was followed shortly later by Bobby & his mom’s Mother-Son Dance! We became close to their moms throughout the process since they’re such warm, welcoming women who get along extremely well (giving us hugs and love throughout the day too)!
Once the formal dances were through Open Dance started and we photographed everyone enjoying the reception as well as details around the reception hall there at The Brick!
These two had things for guests to sign, the Engagement photos that we captured of them throughout the reception hall, and even had a little trailer outside serving different types of popcorn & hot apple cider!
There were so many places for guests to hang out from the bar room, to the outdoor-indoor patio area, to the reception hall main room, to even out by the snack trailer!
Everyone continued to enjoy Open Dance and the company!
When it got to about an hour before we left, we took these two newlyweds out for final sunset portraits right outside of the reception! We were thrilled to have gotten so much time with these two for their married portraits and are so excited to get to create Mollie & Bobby’s physical wedding album with all of these lovely images throughout the day!
We left a couple hours before the reception ended, but suffice to say everyone seemed to be enjoying themselves and most of the guests were still there! It was a beautiful day that went smoothly with everything going ahead of schedule, the rain holding off, and everyone feeling relaxed and happy!
CONGRATULATIONS, Mollie & Bobby! We’re so happy that you’re down enjoying your Honeymoon at the beach in Florida as of a couple days ago and hope that you’re loving your week together relaxing! We can’t wait to show you your full wedding gallery in a month, but in the meantime enjoy your honeymoon, your new married status, and your new home with your pup when you get home! It’ll be so nice for you to get to settle in and get your items all unpacked casually and we cannot wait to hear your honeymoon when you return!
____ Unrelated: We just got back from California’s wedding literally 3.5 days ago (3 weddings within one week- Valpo, California, South Bend) and also captured our first Fall Family Portrait Session of the season yesterday on day TWO of autumn! We’ll be sharing this next week, but in the meantime continuing for the next 4 days straight we’re currently editing 2 weddings, printing 4 separate client print orders to send out to them in Ohio and Indiana this week, editing our styled shoot for Wedding Day Magazine this week, and packing before we HEAD TO ITALY in a little over 4 days for American/ Germans Kyla & Walt’s wedding! **We’re so, so thankful to Jenny’s parents for watching our pets and keeping our house safe while we’re gone capturing two weddings until her dad’s birthday/ their leaving date for them to go back home to Arizona and can’t stress enough how much they’ve helped us out in watching them a few crucial times in this our busiest wedding photography season in 10 years of professional wedding photography-!! Thank you to those two!
Our first niece was born just last week (September 16th) and we’re so lucky that we got there a few days prior for the California wedding. We traveled to 5 cities in 7 days, camped at 3 spots within 5 of those days with Jenny’s tent, and got to visit with Jason’s grandma & mom less than a week ago out there as well! It was crazy travel and we were so glad that we had Mollie & Bobby’s wedding to come back to and capture for 10 hours a few days ago! Once we finish these intense next 4 days of editing the 3 weddings, shipping the 4 orders, going to 3 appointments, packing, getting our rental car to get to get us to/ drop us off at the airport, and get in the plane to Europe… we’ll feel A LOT better and more calm. Hopefully all of the flights and rental cars go well and we can get to Cinque Terre safely next Tuesday.
