Mollie & Bobby are engaged! We’ve been getting to know these South Bend-ers since winter when we chatted with them at our Consultation Office for hours laughing with them about various things and getting sidetracked. Mollie and Bobby are extremely down-to-earth and fun to be around, so after everyones’ busy schedules aligned, we were thrilled to get to finally photograph their Engagement Session! Their wedding is coming up in just a couple months on September 21st here in South Bend at Holy Cross and the Brick, so what better way to celebrate being 2 months from their wedding than with a gorgeous Engagement Session?!
For their Engagement Session Mollie & Bobby chose Notre Dame’s beautiful lakes for their location of choice. For their Session they also brought along their dogs Bella and Remi which was such a blast since their pups are hilariously affectionate and do a great job sitting!
To ensure that their dogs get home safely, Mollie & Bobby had their moms come along for the first 1/3 of their Session! Mollie’s mom actually lives about a block and a half from us on the river in the Near Northwest of South Bend (by Leeper Park/ across the river from Mayor Pete), so we chatted with her and Bobby’s mom as we headed to the spot for portraits of Mollie & Bobby with their dogs. Their moms both being teachers locally actually get along extremely well to the point where after they took the dogs away and we headed off to capture photos of Mollie & Bobby alone, these two went off with the dogs and hung out on Notre Dame’s campus chatting away the entire time! haha It was the cutest thing and cracked us all up when we finished up photos and found them still together by the Grotto on a bench!
Anywho, back to their Session! Mollie made a cute sign for the dogs that said “We loved them first” which we were excited to include in some of the photos of they and their dogs! Bella and Remi are black and chocolate labs and both are much better behaved than our dog Coco (i.e. they don’t run away and they’re good at sitting for photos)! It was cute seeing their little family all together in the photos and we’re so happy that we got to meet Bella & Remi as well as both of Mollie & Bobby’s moms! Clearly there’s a lot of love in this already integrated family!
When we started to photograph Mollie & Bobby solo it was beautiful sunset in South Bend and the golden tones were reflecting on the lake behind these two as they cuddled in the midst of gorgeous summer foliage & colorful flowers! Mollie & Bobby are police officers, but we love that when not working they don’t take themselves too seriously. Bobby is constantly goofing around and making Mollie laugh and both are extremely humble and easy going.
We love when we get to also integrate peoples’ jobs or personal hobbies into a Session and we were thrilled to get to photograph these two with an element of their jobs. Both being in the same field/ career in the same city definitely adds to Mollie & Bobby’s bond. You can tell that these two are strong, fair officers with a good sense of humor and good moral compass.
For some photos of these two with their police cars we headed over to next to their station with them. (We figured that there’s no other place that these two would want to be before a day off than right back at the station! -Kidding- we just liked the lights coming off of a building next to it, so we thought it would be a good spot for their final portraits). We love that these two are such a strong team who work hard day in and day out utilizing their empathy, intelligence, and humility.
Congratulations on your engagement, Mollie & Bobby! We loved meeting more of your family this past week and we cannot wait to photograph your wedding in just TWO months here in South Bend!! (We hope that you love your full gallery and can’t wait to see what photos are your favorites!) Thank you for making time for us in your crazy busy schedules that barely ever include a day off!

Literally half of these couples (4 of them) are even heading into their 9th year of marriage! Two of these July weddings were also Muslim weddings, so we’re excited to re-share these weddings and educate folks on the different styles of weddings that our couples have had!
