Merry Christmas Eve Eve-!! We hope that peoples’ Hanukkahs went well last week and that the start of Kwanzaa this week is good for everyone as well, even though it’s ok to feel a bit “off” this Pandemic holiday season. This year is a weird one because it thwarts our annual belated Christmas Trip to see our immediate families out West (generally the only time we see Jason’s family each year), but we’ve been trying to do what’s best for our community/ nation/ world all year, so why stop NOW right when everything in the Pandemic is at its worst and hospitals are now literally filled and BEGGING folks not to gather?! Anywho, though difficult, we yet again captured our Jenny and Jason Annual Christmas Card because we know how much it means to many of our loved ones and every little bit of cheer counts this year!
We had to wait a LONG time for the ONLY 2020 December snow which was ONE week ago today (then literally amidst a mountain of client work & printing we speed created our Christmas card from scratch on Thursday, printed them Friday, and sent them ALL Saturday morning)-! Here’s a reminder of the previous 6 years (note Marco the bunny inside Jason’s arm in Card 4 & tiny puppy Rizzo in Jenny’s lap in Card 6):
And our card for THIS year-!! (And yes, we actually blew up the bubble pod Jenny’s aunt got her for early Pandemic Christmas and photographed it. It seemed fitting for the card this year. Jenny also dyed the bottom half of her hair green & red. #DoItForTheGram).
Though we had our pets by year #2/ Card 2, we only started including them in our 4th card and boy are Kevin and Coco happy that we didn’t start the tradition of including them sooner than that. We dress them all in their fancy discount Christmas winter dog clothes that we’ve gotten them over the years after the holidays and then set them in the snow. While we all stress over the very odd situation we try to at least get a few photos where we can see their faces and where they aren’t hunched over on the ground. Per those standards we’d say this year was a success!
We also had our Christmas masks ready for the photo, but it was overwhelming with the bubble AND masks, so we opted for the photo without the masks.
And since it only “dusted” a bit of snow one day and melted the next, here’s our Christmas decor with the snow that night! We wish it was fluffy deep snow, but apparently this is what we get…. which is the running theme of this year.
A couple neighbors next to us also decided to join in Christmas decor this year, so we’re making the block glow!
We know it’s a weird one, but we hope that you enjoy your holidays in a way that makes you happy, but FOR SURE doesn’t contribute in ANY way to the Pandemic’s spread. We’ve been busy printing photographs for a full month now and all we’re really hoping for is serenity for at least a day or 2, some time with our pets, and a good meal that we’ll make at home (Jason’s mom’s gift to us since she gifted us Costco gift cards)! Now’s the time to really keep it simple, so we hope you’re able to relax, reflect, and do something mentally healthy for yourself because it’s been a HELL of a past 9+ months. Merry Christmas from our family to yours-!
