On yesterday's date (May 2nd) just two years ago Kimmie & Mindy tied the knot up in magnificent San Luis Obispo (SLO), California! The drive took us a couple hours to get there from our home in Santa Barbara (less than 4 hours round-trip) and reminded us of the beauty of rolling mountains and ocean we were so lucky to live by.
The day started out with photographing the brides getting ready separately at the gorgeous Sycamore Mineral Springs Resort and Spa right by a winding river and beautiful nature paths. Both brides were glowing and giddy for their wedding: Something that most people take for granted as a right, but that not all have always been afforded. After the preparation was over, everyone then headed over to the wedding and reception location of The Dallidet Adobe and Gardens! The spot was a gorgeous outdoor venue with a mixture of beautiful flora (including succulents, lush green gardens, flowers, large redwood trees, other evergreens, etc.) surrounding the pavilion and was a great spot in the amazing city of SLO!
During the ceremony the these two couldn't have been happier. Having decided on a less traditional wedding, the ceremony was officiated by an uncle ordained by "The Church of the Dude" ...a detail that a Big Lebowski fan can really get behind. The ceremony itself was short and sweet, including a hand binding portion in which the two tied their hands together using a handmade rope. This part was done to further illustrate the binding commitment these two have toward one another in marriage.
Following the wedding we captured some formal group photos and photos of just the 2 brides together around the gardens. The love and excitement these two shared for one another remained vibrant throughout the whole shoot. We made our way around the adobe and got a few neat shots at an old trolley car displayed on the grounds.
A family friendly reception included root beer floats, dancing, and a few heartfelt toasts from the bridal party and families. Who said you need an open bar to have a great time?
All-in-all it was a gorgeous day celebrating these two amazing women and their love! Congratulations again to Kimmie and Mindy on your 2 Year Wedding Anniversary and may you have a lifetime of memories to come!
We're so excited about the wedding photos we've taken already this year for our clients (and are editing) and are ecstatic about all of our couples' weddings coming up in the next 6 months-! It's been a great over 7 years of our career in wedding photography and we're just so excited about what's to come. Speaking of weddings, Jenny's own sister came in from Arizona with her fiance and celebrated her Bridal Shower just a few days ago, so we also have some exciting personal weddings coming up that we will be attending (won't be photographing)-!
