We had a fantastic day at the Toasted Chicago Wedding Event a few days ago on Sunday April 24th at the gallery Zhou B Art Center! Toasted is a touring wedding event to help engaged couples meet non-traditional wedding vendors nationwide. The co-owners Dawn & Tara are both vendors in the wedding industry (owners of Dawn Mauberret Events & Dea + Bea Invitations and Paper Goods respectively) and curate these indie-wedding shows throughout the U.S. Most recently prior to Chicago the two spent the last couple months throwing Toasted! events in their flagship city of Brooklyn and also in San Francisco and San Diego. Past events through the years have also included these locations as well as Washington D.C. The website describes the event as "a curated indie-wedding show & market aimed towards free-spirited and savvy nearly-weds looking for something a bit different. Combining an eclectic array of independent artisans, modern wedding ideas, handcrafted and eco-friendly goods, and a party-like mood, Toasted is a refuge from traditional wedding planning."
We had a booth at Toasted for Jenny and Jason Photography and were also the official event photographers, so we were all over the place. We were one of the first to get there 2.5 hours before the event to set up and were the last to leave an hour after the event ended with our crazy living room set-up! (This was been pretty consistent with the other 3 wedding events we worked this year.) We had a great 4 hours chatting & laughing with the engaged couples and fellow vendors alike. The event with its great venue, people, snacks, and drinks was a perfect ending to our crazy 4-state work week combined with 3 days of Jenny's parents visiting.
