Southern California 2022: SLO Wedding, Nephew Birth, Monterey, etc.

Well, I know that we promised you more of our fine art gallery solo and group show openings this week (and I have already prepped the professional photographs of those from the past 13 years in Columbus, Ohio, Santa Barbara, California, Southern Michigan, and Granger, Indiana for ya), but we got nostalgic and thought we’d switch it up on ya this Weekly Wednesday. Since the last 4 blog posts were all work-related, we figured we’d give you a breather for a second and share with you some personal images that we haven’t even shared on our personal Facebook Pages at all.

Though we just got back from our few week “Spring Break” in Sedona, Arizona and Southern California a month & a half ago, this week we’re sharing with you a two week trip that we made out to Southern & Central California last year. It’s been 9.5 months since that particular trip to California (with two other trips out West since then), but due to non-stop work and personal obligations we hadn’t yet even had time to look through these personal images from that trip to California yet. 9.5 months ago we headed out to attend a best friend’s weddings out in SLO, California. Two best friends unintentionally (and very conveniently) both had their weddings in the past few years the exact same week that our niece & nephew on Jason’s side were born, so it often seems like these trips out West are jam-packed with most of the biggest moments in our and our closest loved ones’ lives (and ours as well) all at once. We’re seemingly always celebrating others at work and in our personal lives and while we do love this, it’s the in-between quiet moments that have lead up to and surround these huge events and occasions that remind us why we work hard, play hard, and still manage to try to be there for our top favorites no matter what.

Both of our immediate families live across the country (other than Jenny’s parents for a portion of the year), so these moments that you’ll be seeing are very heightened moments. Because things tend to be stressful leading up to and sometimes during these emotionally packed trips, the laughs seem to be just as heightened as we let our guards down with some of our favorite people. These particular moments with our longtime favorites of 20+ years happened to take place in San Luis Obispo, Monterey, the Monterey Aquarium, Carmel by the Sea, Santa Barbara, and Los Angeles. I’d go into more detail about all of these moments that took place, but I think that’d spoil the vibe of a late summer trip out to Southern California. Instead, enjoy our Family Slideshow below (sans slide projector)…

Thanks so much for stopping through and checking out this little personal blog post-! Our lives revolve around our small family-run professional photography ((& physical photography products)) business/ studio, so sometimes in-between client work that we’ve captured and share here on our business website’s blog, we like to show our own lives outside of work. Also, obvious shout out to the besties, family, and others who lighten our moods by helping us laugh hysterically and figure out this thing called life.

Shout out to and THANK YOU SO MUCH to everyone who visited our (museum curator) juried fine art gallery group show anytime in April or May-! The 3D glass, metal, and wood fine art pieces that we each individually had in the show were some of our favorites that we’ve ever made, so this show was particularly exciting for us to be included in. We were off in California & Arizona most of April (and one of the pieces was broken by a gallery employee the night of the opening), so we didn’t share about it on our personal social media pages or market it really at all, so anyone who did make it in to see the work in person before it came down over the past few days is definitely TOPS in our book(s). You can really tell who your closest friends and loved ones are in who actually physically come out to support your work in person- even 13 years in to your fine art career. We’ll be in more shows throughout the year (and coming years), so there will be plenty of more opportunities for you to go see our non-commercial fine art. It’s hard to keep peoples’ attention outside of a phone screen, so we deeply care about in-person support more than anything and we will continue as always to be in-person business owners, family members, and best friends to every client and inner circle loved one.

Happy Last Day of May 2023-!
